Point Reyes: A Wilderness in Peril - This Land is Your Land

Part 1: How Private Interests are Ruling Point Reyes National Seashore

 Join conservationist and author Kenneth Brower, environmental author.  Son of David Brower, Founder, Friends of the Earth, and the first Ex. Director of the Sierra Club, Ken Brower learned the importance of preserving our environment at an early age.   Airing with the short film, Tule Elk:  The Killing of a Native Species – Comfort Theory. 

Part 2: A Brief History of Issues at Pt. Reyes National Seashore

 Join a team of biologists and conservation advocates for an in-depth background on the legislative background, ecology and wildlife of Point Reyes National Seashore and how this park is being threatened by pollution, habitat loss and giveaways to private industry. 

Part 3: Water Quality at Pt. Reyes Seashore and the Effects on Marine Life

 Join David McGuire, founder of Shark Stewards, & Biologist Laura Cunningham, CA Director of Western Watersheds Project, to learn about contaminated water at Point Reyes National Seashore, runoff and 

threats to marine life.

 Chance Cutrano, Director of Programs at Resource Renewal Institute provides a thorough review of topics related to Point Reyes National Seashore, including: Enabling Legislation, Ranch Lease History and Land Management regulations for ranchers and important current issues. 

Part 5: Conservation Grazing - Cattle or Tule Elk?

 Laura Cunningham, Biologist and CA Dir. of 

Western Watersheds Project, joins filmmaker Skyler Thomas on the myth of carbon farming and conservation grazing and how that relates to challenges facing 

Point Reyes National Seashore.  

And, Julie Philips, Tule Elk Biologist talks about the endangered Tule Elk in the Seashore. 

Part 6: "The Betrayal of Point Reyes" Short Film + Wildlife vs Ranching on Pt. Reyes National Seashore with James Coda, Atty.

 Features “The Betrayal of Point Reyes” a short film by Silver Reaction Media, which explores the impacts of animal agriculture operations in the Point Reyes National Seashore and how ranching operations are impacting native plants and animals, water quality and our climate.  And, Jim Coda, retired environmental attorney for the NPS and nature photographer, discusses the impact of ranching on wildlife.  

Part 7: We Won't Stand By While Tule Elk Die

Activists speak out about National Park Service policies that have resulted in the deaths of hundreds of Tule Elk trapped behind a fence at Point Reyes National Seashore.

Debunking the Myths of Point Reyes National Seashore

  Turtle Island Restoration Network, the Coalition to Save Point Reyes National Seashore, and several community groups hosted an online webinar on June 30, 2021 to inform the public on the facts regarding the National Park Service’s prioritization of private ranching and the impact of commercial operations on our public land in Point Reyes National Seashore.  During the webinar, subject matter experts presented myths versus facts on key topics such as environmental impact, Miwok history, legal issues, economic aspects, the fairness of the process, public opinion, and more.

 What started as a simple animal advocacy project has led to the discovery of an incredible amount of corruption fueled by the power of the animal agricultural industry.  Some of the worst examples of land management that exist in the nation are taking place within a national seashore celebrated for its unique beauty and array of wildlife.
